LOCATION CHANGE: Go club Mem Day weekend

Hello all,
We welcomed some new players last Saturday. Come meet them! Saturday 7pm.  UWM Union food court.    Member M. L.  alerted us that the UWM Union is closed this Saturday.  So, if you plan to attend, please contact this e-mail address for the new location nearby:

Robert P. has offered to help organize for the next year. Please support his efforts. You all may wish to decide on a better time to meet, and you might wish to create some kind of RSVP system. Board Game Barrister (Bayshore) is willing to host us Sat afternoons. Art may be able to come more often if you meet Sat afternoons at Bayshore. Anyone else want to help organize?

Go Club resumes Sat Jan 12

The Milwaukee Go Club is on winter break Dec 23, Dec 30, and Jan 5,
unless two or more people reply to this post and agree to meet.
It will resume on Jan 12. We will be at Board Game Barrister in Bayshore
in the afternoon (2-4pm) until UWM is back in session after MLK Day.
So on Sat Jan 12 we’ll be at Board Game Barrister 2-4pm.
E-mail m i l w a u k e e g o a t g m a i l if you have any questions.

This Sat 12/15 GO 2pm Board Game Barrister Bayshore

We had a successful afternoon of GO back at Bayshore this past Saturday, so we’ll plan a repeat this coming Saturday 12/15, 2-4pm. You MUST check in at the Board Game Barrister store so they can direct you to the temporary location.

In other news, please consider attending the workshop at the Evanston Go Club January 19-20. They put on a great learning experience that results in measurable improvements in just one weekend. See the flyer attached.

Heads up: Sat 11/17 meeting is at the Holiday Folk Fair

Next week’s Go Club meeting will take place at the Holiday Folk Fair in State Fair Park, NOT AT UWM. If you play at the Holiday Folk Fair for 4 hours (anytime between 5pm and 10pm Saturday evening), you get a free volunteer ticket. The catch is that you need to let me know in advance. Please let me know as soon as you can (this weekend if possible, but later should work too) if you plan to come, and I will get you a free volunteer pass. If you need a transportation there and back, please send mail to m i l w a u k e e g o which is the account name at gmail.
There are also options to play on Friday or Sunday during the day. If you prefer those, also please let me know, and if there are two people whose schedules coincide, you will also get volunteer tickets.

still UWM 7pm food court till further notice

We’ll be at the UWM Union food court at 7pm this week, and this will remain our regular pattern.

To accommodate people who can’t make the evening or can’t do UWM, we’ll aim for an afternoon session at Bayshore on Dec 8 and other dates to be announced.

Also save the date for a tournament at the Mitchell Park Domes on Sat Feb 2.

We have several dan-level players (we welcomed another one last week) as well as a pretty good critical mass of quick-learning beginners and intermediate players, so wherever you are, come on out and meet each other.

This Sat, Go @ UWM. Future: UWM or elsewhere?

Tomorrow (Saturday 10/13), Go Club meets at 7pm at UWM.
We need your input on time and place for future meetings.
I need to know how attendance would change if the meeting is moved to Bayshore or Mayfair, or even the Grand Ave downtown. Please reply with an indication of whether you would come regardless, if you would not attend, or if moving would allow you to attend when you haven’t attended before.

Summer meetings 1-4pm at Bayshore

OK — it’s confirmed with Board Game Barrister. Summer meetings will be Saturdays 1-4 in the room off of the food court at Bayshore.
We get to share the space with the people playing Heroclix, which is good because they will open and close. If you know you’re planning to come, it helps if you let us know ahead of time.
Also, remember, if you are members of the American Go Association, you can record your games and get rankings.

Any comments, please e-mail!
